Junior 22 Rifle Program

2025 Fall Class (Sept-Oct)

Ages 10-17 

Cost is $40

Sep 2nd Online Sign-up starting @ 8:00AM (Click Here to Register)

Sep 9th:
Mandatory Safety Briefing for all program participants @6:00PM to 8:00PM – Meeting room and indoor range. All program participants that do not attend the safety briefing and do not meet the exception below, will not be allowed to continue in the shooting portion of the program.

Only exception- If the program participant has attended the safety briefing 2 times in the past, they are not required to attend. This will be verified by reviewing past class rosters.

 16 Sep, 23 Sep, 30 Sep, 7 Oct, 14 Oct, 21 Oct :
Dinner – Hamburgers and Chips $5 starting @ 5:30

Class –Class starts @ 6:00PM. Do not be late

Shooting – Starts after completion of class (Normally by 6:30PM)

28 Oct:  Awards @ 6:00PM to 7:00PM - Meeting room and indoor range.

Program Goals of MLGC Junior Rifle Program


  1. Provide an opportunity for young people of all races, creeds, and sex to learn firearms safety and basic marksmanship
  2. Use the shooting sports as a vehicle to help young people develop leadership, discipline, concentration, sportsmanship and responsibility
  3. To develop participants ability to become successful competitive shooters as individuals and/or part of a team
  4. Introduce the shooting sports to community members and educate them about shooting


Jim Owen is the NRA certified director and will be accompanied by Steve Treat as assistant along with members of the California Grizzlies Juniors Rifle Team, past and present. This program is open to all youth from Tuolumne and surrounding counties. No previous shooting experience is required. ALL juniors must be accompanied by a PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN. Parents are requested to attend the sessions with their juniors. BBQ will be available 5-7 for 5$. The registration fees cover all the supplies and equipment required for the program. Firearms, ammunition and targets are provided. The program will be held on the 50-foot indoor range and will run consecutive Tuesdays. The final meeting will be a special Awards for all participants and their family members at the MLGC clubhouse. Any questions call: 209 743-1773
