The 2020 Winter Junior .22 program sign-ups were held in early January 2020. The next round of sign-ups will be available on September 8, 2020 at 8am. Sign-ups are done online and a link will be available here as well as https://motherlodegunclub.com Due to class size, any boys or girls must be at least 10 years old and up to 20 years of age and are welcome. Juniors need to be signed up by a parent or guardian online. There is limited space, so first come, first served till the class is filled.
Tuesday, January 14th, at 6 PM, is the first class featuring a mandatory interactive lecture for all those juniors who are new and have not participated in at least two previous safety lectures and payment of $35.00 for the class for those accepted. Payment will be expected the first night of class.
Program Goals of the Mother Lode Gun Club Junior Association:
Jim Owen is the NRA certified director and will be accompanied by Steve Treat as assistant along with members of the California Grizzlies Juniors Rifle Team, past and present. This program is open to all youth from Tuolumne and surrounding counties. No previous shooting experience is required. ALL juniors must be accompanied by a PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN. Parents are requested to attend the sessions with their juniors. BBQ will be available 5-7 for 5$. The registration fees cover all the supplies and equipment required for the program. Firearms, ammunition and targets are provided. The program will be held on the 50-foot indoor range, and will run consecutive Tuesdays. The final meeting will be a special Awards for all participants and their family members at the MLGC clubhouse on Tuesday, March 3th. For questions can call 209 743-1773.
2019 Fall .22 Mother Lode Gun Club Program Finishes
Forty one juniors, two thirds of them new to the program, just concluded the Fall .22 program. Special certificates from California Senator Andreas Borgeas, US Congressman Tom McClintock and California Assemblyman Frank Bigelow were presented to the fifteen top juniors in the program at the Awards Ceremony The program led by Jim Owen with the help of Roger Wilson, 4H leader Steven Treat, Tim Finicle and current local members of the California Grizzlies, past and present mentored the juniors. Boys and girls attending were from Sonora, Jamestown, Altaville, Tuolumne, Soulsbyville, Twain Harte, and Mi Wuk Village. The 2020 Winter program will have its signups online Tuesday, January 7thwith the safety briefing Tuesday, January 14th. The program will run every Tuesday night finishing with Awards Tuesday, March 3rd.
