President's Blog

July 2019

Dear Members,

I hope you all are having a wonderful summer. 2019 has been a busy and productive year so far. The club was host to several youth shooting events, senior projects and helped introduce several new shooters to the many disciplines offered here. With the admittance of nearly 100 members, I’d like to say thank you to the Membership Committee for their hard work and dedication to the club. Volunteers aren’t easy to find and I appreciate the countless hours and organizational skills it takes to keep things running smoothly. A big welcome to our new members!

John Popke resigned as President, with his letter being posted as the May Presidents Blog. He has been a strong supporter and involved member of the club for many years and he will be truly missed. I’d like to say thank you for his continued support and wish him all the best with his move to Utah.

As Vice President, I will fill the role as President until the next election in November. Jim Christensen was nominated from the floor and voted in as new Vice President and Dale Mattier was nominated from the floor and voted in as new Member at Large, leaving us with a fully staffed Board. I look forward to working with this great group of people and appreciate our members support.

Our current club secretary Marti Steiner is moving on to a new position outside of the Mother Lode Gun Club in a few months, with her resignation effective December, unless filled sooner. I would like to thank Marti for her short but active time here as the club secretary. If anyone is interested in becoming part of the MLGC Board or learning more about this position, please let me know.

I am currently looking for input on our current by-laws. If any of our members are interested in joining the committee or have suggestions, please feel free to let me know. I encourage everyone to get involved and be a part of what keeps the club alive. These documents address range safety, guest limits, board member descriptions, membership policies, range rules and so much more. Participation in the re-writing of these policies is highly recommended for those wanting to be involved. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

There are several upcoming projects and events planned for the Mother Lode Gun Club and I suggest that you check the website for updates and attend the meetings if you can. I hope that you will consider joining a discipline, committee or introduce someone new to the sport of shooting

Thank you for this opportunity to serve you and I look forward to maintaining a safe place for our community of shooters.
